By opting for an Industrial Training through Research Agreement (CIFRE), you can complete your thesis in a company and in conjunction with a research laboratory. You will participate directly in an applied project while preparing for your doctorate. The fields of electronics, computer science, and mathematics applied to engineering sciences naturally attract collaborations between the school and companies, regardless of their size!
It is imbued with a strong commitment to ecological and societal transition, from the recruitment of teacher-researchers to the fields of research, including projects carried out in collaboration with our students.
A stimulating learning environment for our future engineers
ENSEA students benefit from a first-rate research environment thanks to the presence on campus of two research laboratories internationally renowned:
- The laboratory ETIS – Information Processing and Systems Team (UMR 8051).
- The laboratory Quartz (EA 3649) – Field of science and engineering of complex systems.
The two laboratories hosted by ENSEA are centers of innovation and excellence in the fields of telecommunications, computer science, electronics, and automation. Their influence has earned them international recognition.
We develop high-impact research to meet the needs for safe, low-footprint products and services as well as socio-economic and environmental challenges!

Developing synergies between Research, Training and Innovation
This research mission also allows us to offer our students a training at the forefront of new discoveries and scientific innovations, technical and societal (ENSEA Engineering Training), as well as access to cutting-edge equipment.
The presence of research laboratories within ENSEA ensures that training is always up-to-date. Curriculums are updated annually, and new courses, options, and specializations are introduced to ensure training that is in line with technological innovations and business needs.
The school's professors and lecturer-researchers integrate the latest discoveries and research findings into their courses. Each new student project represents an opportunity to draw on the expertise of the research teams to excel, innovate, and achieve excellence.
6 technological platforms for innovation
ENSEA has 6 technological expertise platforms for students and doctoral students and businesses.
In an increasingly competitive and constantly changing environment, ENSEA positions itself as a strategic and innovative partner for industry. The school supports its partners in updating and acquiring know-how and knowledge through its cutting-edge research and the provision of its equipment.
EMC & Antennas
The EMC & Antennas platform allows the characterization and testing of active or passive RF systems by providing suitable measurement resources and through the expertise developed by the ETIS and Quartz laboratory teams.
RF Systems Characterization
The RF Systems Characterization platform enables the characterization, testing and reliability of active or passive RF systems by providing suitable measurement resources and through the expertise developed by the ETIS laboratory teams.
Smart Embedded Systems
The SES platform is a 60 m2 Livin Lab designed to meet the needs of VSEs and SMEs in the field of systems and embedded electronics through a place for interactions, experiments and prototyping and the provision of cutting-edge electronic equipment.
Movement workshop
A technological platform enabling the analysis of postures and gaits in everyday life or sports training contexts. Equipped with Motion Capture acquisition systems, radar imaging, thermal and event cameras, and a connected treadmill, the workshop is interested in applications in the fields of health and high-performance sport.
Connected greenhouse
The "Smart Greenhouse" platform, designed in partnership with the startup Myfood, allows users to test the behavior of IoT products outdoors and in real-life conditions over short or long periods of time. With a surface area of 20m², divided into five permaculture tanks and two aquaponics tanks, this smart connected greenhouse combines local agriculture and innovation.
Training through research at ENSEA
Research is a tremendous learning opportunity for our engineering students. It allows them to access cutting-edge equipment and become experts in their field, but also to acquire a sharp analytical mind and adopt inductive reasoning that combines scientific rigor and the ability to question themselves.
Laboratory internships possible from the 2nd year of the engineering cycle
ENSEA engineering students complete more than 8 months of internships during their studies. The Engineering Assistant internship (12 weeks) and the Final Year Project (20 weeks) can be carried out in research laboratories, in France or abroad.
The research teams of the ETIS and Quartz laboratories welcome numerous interns and doctoral students from ENSEA or other French and foreign higher education establishments.
A Master 2 Research in parallel with the 3rd year of studies
In the third year of the ENSEA Engineering program, our students are offered numerous dual degree opportunities. These include the possibility of obtaining the Master 2 in Computer Science and Complex Systems Engineering (IISC), provided in co-habilitation with CY Cergy Paris University, in addition to the ENSEA Engineering diploma.
The teaching is largely provided by teacher-researchers from the ETIS laboratory, CNRS Joint Research Unit (UMR 8051).
Alongside my third year, I completed a dual degree in the Master 3 Research in Artificial Intelligence to discover the world of academic research. This experience, along with my internship on image processing and artificial intelligence in one of the school's research laboratories, encouraged me to pursue a thesis within the ETIS laboratory!

What if you continued your studies with a Doctorate in one of our laboratories?
Each year, more than 110 doctoral students prepare a thesis in one of the school's two laboratories.
Within a laboratory of the “Sciences and Engineering” doctoral school in Cergy, the preparation for the doctorate is a 3-year experience in an academic or industrial environment.
